“To Serve Man” (The Twilight Zone)

This assignment is based on the Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man.

1. Can you always trust a person who does good things for you?  Use the story in the video to support your answer.  (at least one sentence)
2. Can you trust a person who is a liar?  Use the story in the video to support your answer.  (at least one sentence)
3. How do you know you can trust God all the time?  Give at least one Bible passage that supports your answer.  Copy down at least one verse in the passage.  Explain why the Bible passage supports your answer.  (one paragraph)
4. In what ways are the Kanamits like God?  Use the story in the video to support your answer.  (at least once sentence)
5. In what ways are they different?  Use the story in the video to support your answer.  (at least once sentence)
6. Make a table that has two columns in it.  In the left column, list three things in your life that can fool you like the Kanamits fooled the Earthlings.  (For example, bad advice fools a lot of people.  Having the wrong friends can affect other people.)  In the right column, explain how each of those things can deceive you.  (at least one sentence per explanation)

7. Sometimes our feelings can fool us.  Feelings are tricky because you sometimes do not get a bad feeling when your feelings are fooling you.  Sometimes the wrong thing can feel like the right thing to do.  Explain why this happens.  (Hint: If your feelings can fool you, why wouldn’t you always get a bad feeling when your feelings are fooling you?)  (one paragraph)
8. Most religions do not have a God who is completely good and all-knowing at the same time.  For many of these religions, “god” can lie or be wrong about some things he says.  Would it make sense to trust a god that is like this?  Why or why not?  (one paragraph)
